It's not an easy task to design ideal office chairs, and companies have invested millions into advanced research in kinesiology to try to build a better chair. Anthropologists, manufactures and psychologists have all been involved in aspects of this research over the years.
One of the problems in building a perfect office chair is that people vary so much in shape and size, as well as in how they tend to sit while working. Ergonomics experts can at least agree on the fact that in general people sit too much in office jobs. They warn that if you sit for too long with the wrong posture, the best office chair can't prevent certain problems from developing. The human body was simply not mean to sit for longer than two or three hours in a row. A good chair can help to ease the impact of too much sitting, but the best chairs are often cost-prohibitive.
