With our second child on the way, after our one year old, we want to start to get furniture that's appropriate for kids. We're looking for a new fashion for home! Until now, we've enjoyed a very refined sofa, for example, that my husband inherited from his grandmother. We decided we're going to give that to his brother to keep for the next several years, or more, since he and his wife don't have kids and have a sophisticated apartment. So we'll get that sofa back some day down the road! Meanwhile, we want surfaces that are easy to clean, as well as comfortable. We want our kids to learn to appreciate things and take care of things and also respect where they can and cannot play in the house, but we also want them to feel at ease and free to be kids in the main family areas of our home. We'll still have a more formal living room for entertaining guests, like modern 3 seater sofas, for example, though not quite as formal as before, and a nice dining room, but we want to let loose in the family room and kitchen, and basement, for example, and not worry too much if little fingers accidentally smear peanut butter and jelly on the couch! We want to wipe and not make a big deal out of it. So we're looking for furniture that's kid-friendly, though stylish nonetheless, such as leather sofas and chairs.
